In the one month since Entrecard launched, they signed up over 600 blogs that now run the widget, including some really huge blogs like Problogger.net.
Most bloggers would think to let their readers know if free advertising was available on their blog. John Chow, Shoemoney, Tyler Cruz, and nearly everyone else who added Entrecard to their blog informed their readers of what it was, how it works, and how their audience can use it to get free 125×125 advertising on their blog.
One blogger though is strangely quiet on Entrecard. Darren Rowse of Problogger.net has said absolutely nothing about Entrecard, even though the widget is installed on the front page of his blog, and even as Entrecard’s rank closes in on the kill:
The most peculiar thing…
The most peculiar thing is this. Darren Rowse is supposedly a trusted source for information in the blogosphere. I’ve posted about this here and here. Why then, would he plug the pyramid-scheme-that-doesn’t-work, otherwise known as Blogrush, in no less than four posts:
Find New Readers for your Blog
Tips for Using Blogrush to Generate Traffic for your Blog
What are your Blogrush Stats like?
Blogrush Launches Phase 2: First Impressions
The fact is everyone knows Blogrush doesn’t work. Reports are abound on the internet. The basic argument is that it doesnt send traffic, though one blogger goes so far as to point out 14 grievances she has with it, in 14 Reasons why you should remove your Blogrush Scam Widget ASAP.
Now here’s where it gets really interesting:
Back to Darren Rowse, aka Problogger. So he is supposedly a trusted source of information on the net. However, he dedicates 4 posts on his blog to Blogrush, a widget service that didn’t work well for anyone at the top, and doesn’t write a single post about Entrecard, the free advertising available on his blog.
Reports are all over the internet of the traffic Entrecard is bringing the everyday blogger.
Now I would think that if an awesome widget that allows bloggers to exchange 125’s for free was spreading like wildfire across the internet, a widget he has on his blog, a widget that truly is bringing tons of traffic to bloggers everywhere, he would say something about it.
Why the silence?
Why would he talk so much about Blogrush, a service that doesn’t work, and not a word about Entrecard, a service that is working phenomenally and taking the blogosphere by storm? I can’t help but wonder if the posts about Blogrush were financially motivated.

I agree with you. I tried blogrush and i got 1 person sent to my site. I took off the widget (at least i think i did :). Entrecard i have gotten 8 people. Not a lot but it pretty much runs itself and i have a ad que on johncow.com coming up soon so that should help a lot.
luckyly i was rejected by blog rush hehe
and now increasing my traffic thru entrecard
I haven’t used Blogrush or Entrecard, but it seems like I need to look into the latter. Interesting post.
Entrecard works! I found your site through Entrecard.
I think Blogrush was overhyped as it was the first innovative way to exchange traffic via latest feeds (and the only one).
That’s why Darren was mesmerized by the feat, and heavily celebrated the system, but not the results.
It’s about time he write something good about Entrecard. Let’s wait a couple of weeks shall we..
Maybe the phrase, “He was most likely paid to blog about BlogRush,” comes to mind. I have no proof but to blog about a service that rejected excellent blogs and allowed spammy blogs in- something smells fishy. I was rejected for BlogRush, then accepted. After just over a week I removed the widget because I saw maybe 5-10 hits. BlogRush is/was a joke. EntreCard has so much potential.
Part of it might be related to the fact that Darren moved to new house and haven’t had time to make up his mind about whether or not this is going to fly in the long run.
With all this in mind, I am suprised if he is not going to write something about it in couple weeks.
Why Indeed.
That’s why I don’t read stuff from the supposedly “top blog” sites because they can be misleading. I always do my own research.
EntreCard does work indeed. Blog Rush: been there, done that, uninstalled.
ps. In retrospect, I don’t mean to implicate you as being a psycho follower of A-list bloggers. I’m actually trying to think and comment in, what I believe are, the best interests of bloggers who promote these A-list bloggers that never talk about anything exciting or truly innovative.
So excuse me, please, if when I said, “like you” it seemed hostile. You have a good blog here and it seems to be helping a lot of people.
So keep up the good work!
Sam
Funny, my initial thought was the item that works (Entrecard) is something he wants to keep to himself so he alone can enjoy the benefits.
My world view has been jaded recently, so maybe my opinion is way off. But that’s what immediately came to my mind.
And I did give BlogRush a valiant effort as well, and I received possibly 15 hits after running the widget for a good four weeks. I have since removed the widget.
I don’t have any statistics yet for Entrecard, as I just signed up about 30 minutes ago.
